I'm a beginner and find it easier to cast a fiberglass rod. I don't know if it's because I can feel the rod load up easier and know from that when to change my stroke or some other reason. They seem more forgiving to me. I guess I need to nail down my technique to cast efficiently with my graphite rod.
Fast action = the time it takes for rod to bend and stretch itself out ( it could be a moderate action with extreme recovery) Its got nothing to do with how stiff the rod is. Scott Centric = is faster than Sage igniter. But igniter is stiffer, mostly used in windy conditions at sea etc. Great vids by the way
Personally I prefer moderate to even slow action. However, it's very difficult to find a graphite fly rod in slower actions. One trick I learned that has worked ok for me over the years is to overweight the rod. In other words buy a 3/4 weight fast action rod and use 4 or even 5 weight line. Casting distance isn't much of a concern for me as I am primarily in small mountain streams anyway. Of course you can go with fiberglass. But, in a strange twist in the goofy ass world we live in, Fiberglass is now bragged about like it's some new fangle "oh you gotta check out these NEW glass rods, they're amazing" way of making fly rods and of course the price of them is borderline rediculous.
exactly. define your needs b/f buying the rod.
The only fly rod anyone needs for any freshwater fishing weather it be a small creek or a river is a two piece 5/6 weight rod with weight forward line, five weight, and the rod needs to be stiff flex tip, with that any flyfisherman can figure out any situation with all there is to know about casting a fly line, that is why two piece rods are sold at a premium price point, my first orvis rod only cost me 100 dollars. Why would I pay 300 dollars or more for a three piece rod that will not do the same for me? A 10 foot foot rod is best for roll casting in smaller creeks and also better to reach out to the farther reaches of a larger river.
The row was used this morning so the can send the crow to the knight 😂 and the other medium fly they turned it on my finger hairs in a stencil type of motion then it used the vertical sunroof on my car to escape 😂
I swear all Trident guys have the same voices
